Conference Opener

On December 7th, The Oilers opened up the Saginaw Valley Conference schedule with a home tilt against rival Midland Dow.

The Chargers skated in to the I.C.E. Arena and took early control of the game. The Chargers scored just three minutes in to the game and took that lead in to the locker room after 1 period.

The second period opened in favor of the Oilers as they scored a quick one right out of the gate. Nathan Pittsley got the puck back to Senior Defenseman Eric DeLorenzo who fed fellow Senior, Jesse McDeveitt-Irwin who got his shot past the Charger goalie and even the game at one apiece.

Unfortunately for Oiler fans, it was all down hill from there. The Chargers opened up an offensive onslaught, chasing Sophomore goalie Adam Salisbury from the game with four goals.

Freshman goaltender nick Burkholder saw his first action of the year and played well holding the Chargers to one goal on 15 shots, but in the end Dow was too strong and outpaced the Oilers 6-1.

The Oilers next action will be in a week on the 14th as they host another conference foe in Saginaw Heritage.
