Last game of 2011

Mt. Pleasant traveled down to Okemos to take on the Chieftains before the Holiday break and played as if they were ready for Christmas.

The Oilers once again could not stay out of the penalty box and it bit them hard. Tallying a total of 22 penalty minutes, the Oilers spend a large part of the game on the penalty kill and allowed Okemos to score two power play goals.

Matt Luberto from Okemos netter a hat trick scoring two in the first and another in the third. Mt. Pleasant did try to fight through adversity with a goal in the first from Jesse McDevitt-Irwin cutting the lead in half. DeLorenzo and Pulver were given assists.

The lone goal in the second period was scored by the good guys, Coscarelly took a nice pass from McDevitt-Irwin and made it count, tying the game.

After getting down early in the third to Luberto's hat trick, Mt. Pleasant rallied, pulled there goalie and Sophomore Max Heeke scored his first goal of the year with 1 second left on the clock, tying the game and sending it to overtime. Assists were given to Pulver and Huber.

Okemos scored a couple minutes in to OT ending Mt. Pleasant's comeback and sending the Oilers on break with a 2-5 record.

They will be back in action after the break when they travel to Bay City on January 4th.
