Clash of the Titans

The Tri-Valley Titans strolled in to Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday night for a 7PM showdown with the Oilers, fresh off their shutout of Gladwin.

Both teams played to a scoreless tie at the end of the 1st period with a lot of back and forth and feeling each other out.

The second period was again tight and had each team notching a goal. The Oilers goal was scored by Evan Huber with an assist going to Robert Backus. The period ended as the first did in a tie.

One minute in to the third a controversial goal was counted by the officials, giving The Titans a 2-1 lead. The play was originally waived off by the official on the goal line, however the head ref skated in from center ice and said the goal was good as he deemed the puck crossed the line before the net came off its mooring. The Oilers had a tough time bouncing back from the call and allowed another goal on the power play just two minutes later.

Tri-Valley added an empty netter at the end of the period and went home with a 4-1 victory. The Oilers are looking forward to there rematch against the Titans on February 4th at their barn.

The Oilers fall to 3-7
